About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to contribute to the innovation and development of cutting-edge vehicle electrical architectures. This hybrid role requires a blend of on-site collaboration in Edinburgh and remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute effectively to complex projects. You will be instrumental in designing, integrating, and validating electrical systems, including power distribution, control modules, and sensor networks. Working closely with mechanical engineers, software developers, and supply chain partners, you will ensure the seamless functionality and reliability of the vehicle's electrical components, driving advancements in performance, efficiency, and feature integration. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive electrical system architectures, including wiring harnesses, connectors, and component integration.
- Specify and select electrical components, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, and cost requirements.
- Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and documentation using industry-standard tools.
- Conduct system-level testing and validation of electrical components and integrated systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Collaborate with software teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical hardware and control software.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in automotive electrical system design and development.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software (e.g., Zuken E3.series, Mentor Graphics Capital).
- Strong understanding of vehicle power distribution, CAN/LIN communication, and embedded systems.
- Experience with automotive testing methodologies and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
