About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly specialized and passionate Automotive Performance Engineer to join their advanced R&D department in Edinburgh . This role involves designing, developing, and testing high-performance vehicle systems and components. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering, focusing on engine tuning, chassis dynamics, and aerodynamic improvements. This is a challenging and rewarding position for an individual with a deep understanding of vehicle dynamics and a drive for innovation in the Scottish automotive sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement performance enhancements for vehicle engines, powertrains, and chassis.
- Conduct rigorous testing and data analysis of performance modifications using dyno meters and track testing.
- Optimise vehicle aerodynamics and suspension systems for improved handling and speed.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to integrate performance solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance-related issues during development and testing phases.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in automotive performance engineering.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in automotive performance engineering , tuning, or development.
- In-depth knowledge of engine management systems, ECU programming, and data acquisition.
- Experience with CFD and FEA software for aerodynamic and structural analysis is a plus.
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, suspension geometry, and braking systems.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
