About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their innovative team based in Portsmouth . This hybrid role involves the design, development, and testing of advanced powertrain systems for future vehicle platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical and electrical components of vehicle powertrain systems (engines, transmissions, electric drivetrains).
- Perform detailed analysis and simulations to optimize powertrain performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system integration, validation, and testing.
- Develop and execute test plans for powertrain components and systems, both in simulation and on test benches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design and performance issues throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to defining powertrain requirements and roadmaps in Portsmouth .
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in automotive powertrain development .
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, or electric vehicle drivetrains.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools for design and simulation (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS).
- Experience with powertrain control systems and calibration.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, balancing remote tasks with on-site collaboration in Portsmouth .
