About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative Automotive Propulsion Systems Engineer to join their advanced engineering team, working remotely from Reading and surrounding areas. This role will focus on the design, development, and integration of next-generation propulsion systems, including electric, hybrid, and advanced internal combustion technologies. You will play a vital part in shaping the future of sustainable automotive mobility, contributing to high-performance and efficient vehicle solutions within a forward-thinking, remote-first organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop key components and systems for electric vehicle (EV) powertrains, including electric motors, inverters, and battery management systems (BMS).
- Analyze and optimize hybrid propulsion architectures, focusing on energy recovery and efficiency.
- Perform system-level integration and testing of propulsion systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with battery engineers, electrical engineers, and software developers to achieve system integration goals.
- Conduct performance simulations and validation testing for new propulsion technologies.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in EV and hybrid propulsion systems.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on power electronics or energy systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive propulsion systems engineering , with a strong emphasis on EVs or hybrids.
- In-depth knowledge of electric motor technologies, power electronics, and battery systems.
- Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and analysis.
- Understanding of vehicle control systems and functional safety standards.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
