Automotive Service Manager

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic Automotive Service Manager to lead their thriving service department in Southampton . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the service operations, from customer reception and scheduling to team management and financial performance. You will ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service and high-quality vehicle maintenance and repair. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent organisational skills, and a deep understanding of the automotive service industry, driving efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the service department, including workshop loading, staff scheduling, and customer flow.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of service advisors, technicians, and support staff.
• Ensure the highest standards of customer service are met, handling complaints and resolving issues effectively.
• Monitor and manage workshop performance, setting targets and driving efficiency to meet profitability goals.
• Oversee parts inventory management and procurement in conjunction with the parts department.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies within the service department.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior role within an automotive service department, preferably as a Service Manager or Assistant Service Manager.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire a team.
• Excellent understanding of automotive repair processes, diagnostics, and service standards.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using dealership management systems (DMS) and relevant software.
• A results-oriented approach with strong financial acumen and business understanding.
