Automotive Test Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Automotive Test Engineer to join their dynamic team in Birmingham . In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test plans to ensure the quality and reliability of automotive components and systems. You will work closely with development engineers and quality assurance teams to identify, document, and resolve issues throughout the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain detailed test plans and test cases for automotive hardware and software components.
• Execute functional, performance, and regression testing on various automotive systems.
• Operate and maintain test equipment, including HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulators and diagnostic tools.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and report findings clearly to the engineering and development teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve identified issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and automation frameworks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience as a Test Engineer within the automotive sector.
• Hands-on experience with testing automotive electronic control units (ECUs) and related software.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and UDS.
• Proficiency in using test automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, CAPL).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
