Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join their operations team in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire . This role is essential for maintaining the fleet of vehicles and equipment used to service aircraft on the ground, ensuring operational readiness and safety. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a wide range of GSE, including tow tractors, belt loaders, baggage carts, and aircraft stairs. This is a hands-on position that plays a vital role in the smooth and efficient functioning of airport operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and diagnostic troubleshooting on all types of GSE .
• Repair and replace faulty components, ensuring all equipment meets safety and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status.
• Operate various types of GSE safely and effectively during testing and operational use.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies regarding equipment operation and maintenance.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a mechanic, with a strong background in maintaining heavy equipment, vehicles, or machinery.
• Formal qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and schematics.
• Possession of a valid driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment in Nottingham .
