Aviation Safety Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aviation Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives within their operations based in Edinburgh . This senior position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company's Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulations and to foster a robust safety culture. You will play a critical role in risk assessment, incident investigation, and the promotion of best practices across all departments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of aviation safety protocols and a proven track record in safety management within the aviation industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organisation's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with EASA, CAA, and ICAO standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification across all operational areas.
• Lead and manage incident and accident investigations, determining root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff to promote a strong safety culture and awareness.
• Monitor safety performance indicators (SPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs), reporting on safety performance to senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Act as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in aviation safety management, preferably with at least 7 years in a similar role.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and managing an effective Safety Management System (SMS).
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, safety standards, and risk management principles.
• Proven ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and implement effective safety improvements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Relevant professional qualifications in aviation safety or a related field are highly desirable.
