Role Overview

Our client, a manufacturing organisation, is looking for an experienced Azure Migration Engineer to lead the migration of virtual machine workloads from VMware to Azure Local Stack. This is a hands-on contract covering the full migration lifecycle — from discovery and planning through execution, cutover, and post-migration optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and design the VM to Azure migration strategy

• Migrate application VMs from VMware to Azure Local Stack

• Troubleshoot VM conversion, networking, storage, and compatibility issues

• Conduct migration discovery, dependency analysis, and readiness assessments

• Execute cutovers and coordinate migration activities with stakeholders

• Perform post-migration validation, optimisation, and issue resolution

• Ensure compliance with security, backup, DR, and governance standards

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering VMware to Azure migrations

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Local Stack

• Experience supporting Azure migrations within manufacturing environments

• Solid understanding of VM conversion, networking, and storage compatibility issues

• Experience coordinating cutover activities with cross-functional stakeholders

• Awareness of security, backup, DR, and governance frameworks
