About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and skilled Backend Software Engineer to join their technology team based in Oxford . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic of their applications, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging technical problems, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate with a talented team in a city renowned for its innovation. You will play a key role in building the foundation for future product development within Oxfordshire .
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable backend services and APIs.
- Write efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code using modern programming languages.
- Collaborate with frontend developers and product managers to define and deliver new features.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical design discussions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Backend Software Engineer or similar role.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Java, Node.js, or C#.
- Strong understanding of database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL), including design and optimization.
- Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Understanding of software development best practices and agile methodologies.
