Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced change professional to lead utilisation, adoption and benefits realisation for the Shared Patient Record service. This is an exciting opportunity to work across health and care organisations, helping clinicians and operational teams make better use of shared information to support safer, more coordinated and person-centred care.
You will have significant experience of supporting the adoption, implementation or optimisation of digital healthcare systems in the NHS or a similarly complex environment. You will bring strong change management, stakeholder engagement, training, communication and analytical skills, together with a sound understanding of healthcare workflows, information governance and the benefits of shared records and interoperability.
You will be proactive, organised, collaborative and resilient, with the ability to manage competing priorities and explain complex digital concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. A relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent experience, alongside evidence of continuing professional development, is essential.
Main duties of the job
You will lead engagement, communications, education, training and change activities that embed the Shared Patient Record into clinical and operational workflows. You will analyse utilisation and adoption data, identify opportunities for improvement, communicate benefits and service developments, coordinate user enquiries, and work closely with clinical, operational, digital, information governance and supplier stakeholders.
You will lead adoption, utilisation and benefits realisation for the Hertfordshire and West Essex Shared Patient Record. You will work with clinical, operational, digital and information governance teams to embed the service into everyday workflows; deliver training, demonstrations, communications and user guidance; analyse utilisation and benefits data; and identify targeted opportunities to improve uptake and user experience. You will coordinate enquiries, enhancement requests and service improvements, escalating issues through appropriate governance routes.
We are looking for an experienced digital change professional with excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, facilitation, training, analytical and organisational skills. You will be proactive, collaborative and resilient, able to explain complex digital concepts clearly, manage competing priorities and build trusted relationships across organisational boundaries. Supporting the development of future interoperability roadmaps, NHS App integration and emerging Single Patient Record priorities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will join a forward-looking digital team at an important stage in the development of shared records and interoperability. The role offers the opportunity to influence system-wide change, work with a broad network of partners and contribute to emerging regional and national Shared Patient Record and Single Patient Record ambitions.

- Lead adoption, utilisation and benefits realisation for the Shared Patient Record across partner organisations.
- Plan and deliver stakeholder engagement, communications, demonstrations, training, user guidance and train-the-trainer activities.
- Analyse and report utilisation, adoption and benefits data, identifying trends and targeted opportunities for improvement.
- Build effective relationships with clinical, operational, digital, information governance and supplier stakeholders.
- Manage user enquiries and coordinate information governance queries, enhancement requests and service issues through appropriate routes.
- Maintain accurate communications, training resources, user guidance and standard operating procedures.
Key relationships include clinical, operational, digital, information governance and technical teams across partner NHS organisations, the Central East ICB, suppliers and interoperability partners.
Core hours are 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility required to support planned changes and service incidents.
Hybrid working will be considered, will require days to be on site.
Education and Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Health Informatics, Digital Transformation, Information Management, Business Management, Change Management, Project Management or equivalent experience).
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to digital transformation, change management, stakeholder engagement, training, benefits realisation or programme delivery.
- Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience in change management, project management, service improvement, training and development, or digital transformation.
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of Shared Care Records, interoperability services and health and care information sharing, including the benefits they provide to clinical and operational users.
- Knowledge of NHS digital transformation programmes, Integrated Care Systems, information-sharing initiatives and the evolving national Shared Patient Record (ShPR) and Single Patient Record (SPR) landscape.
- Knowledge of change management, stakeholder engagement, training delivery, benefits realisation and adoption methodologies within healthcare environments.
- Good understanding of information governance, data protection legislation, patient confidentiality, information-sharing agreements and direct care data-sharing principles.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems, clinical workflows and operational processes, with an understanding of how digital solutions can support improvements in patient care, safety and service delivery.
- Significant knowledge of applying change management methodologies and techniques to support the successful adoption of digital technologies, service transformation and behavioural change across healthcare organisations.
Experience
- Significant experience supporting the adoption, implementation or optimisation of digital healthcare systems within the NHS or a similarly complex healthcare environment.
- Proven experience of leading or supporting change management activities associated with digital transformation programmes, including stakeholder engagement, communications, training and adoption initiatives.
- Proven experience of developing and delivering training, education, communication and engagement activities to support digital transformation and service change.
- Experience of working collaboratively with clinical, operational, digital, information governance and supplier stakeholders to support service improvements and increase user adoption.
- Demonstrable experience of analysing, monitoring and reporting utilisation, adoption and benefits data to support decision-making, service improvement and benefits realisation.
- Experience of coordinating user support, stakeholder enquiries, information governance requests, communications and change activities within a business-critical digital service.
Skills and ability
- Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively across clinical, operational, digital, information governance and supplier teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain complex digital and information-sharing concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
