Job Description
My client a boutique law firm are seeking a Billing Assistant to support our finance team on an initial six-month fixed term contract. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of client invoices and offers an excellent introduction to legal billing practices within a supportive environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Billing Preparation and Processing:
- Prepare draft bills for fee earner review, ensuring alignment with client agreements and billing guidelines.
- Finalise and issue bills to client's post-approval, manage client-to-office transfers, and handle credit notes and adjustments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous legal billing or accounts experience, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
- Minimum education: GCSE level in English and Maths; A-Level or relevant qualifications are desirable.
- Understanding of time recording, billing principles, and VAT in the context of legal services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with e-billing systems and client portals.
- Excellent communication skills, strong numeracy, and a high attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
