About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Bioinformatics Scientist to contribute to their cutting-edge research in Cambridge . This role involves the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data, to support drug discovery and development efforts. You will collaborate with biologists, chemists, and clinicians to extract meaningful insights and drive research hypotheses, utilizing advanced computational and statistical methodologies. This hybrid position combines remote data analysis with on-site collaboration and team meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex biological datasets (e.g., next-generation sequencing, microarrays, proteomics) using bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
- Develop and implement novel computational approaches for data integration, interpretation, and visualization.
- Collaborate with experimental scientists to design studies and interpret results in the context of biological systems.
- Contribute to the identification of potential drug targets and biomarkers.
- Maintain and update bioinformatics databases and software resources.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Demonstrated experience in bioinformatics analysis, with strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
- Proficiency with standard bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, UCSC Genome Browser, Ensembl).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) and high-performance computing environments is a plus.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology principles and experience in pharmaceutical R&D is highly desirable.
