Biologics Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Biologics Scientist to join their cutting-edge drug discovery team, based in or near Nottingham . This role focuses on the discovery and development of novel biologic therapeutics, including monoclonal antibodies, proteins, and other bioconjugates. You will be involved in target validation, lead generation, and characterization of biologic drug candidates. This is an exciting opportunity for a scientist with a strong background in molecular biology and protein engineering to contribute to the development of next-generation medicines within a collaborative and innovative pharmaceutical research setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments for the discovery and characterization of biologic drug candidates.
• Develop and utilize assays for target engagement, potency, and mechanism of action studies.
• Perform protein expression, purification, and characterization using various biochemical and biophysical techniques.
• Collaborate with internal teams on antibody engineering, cell line development, and in vivo pharmacology studies.
• Analyze and interpret complex biological data, contributing to research strategy.
• Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in biologics discovery.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-doctoral or industry experience in biologics discovery.
• Hands-on experience with protein expression (e.g., mammalian cells, E. coli), purification (e.g., chromatography), and characterization (e.g., ELISA, SPR, Western Blot).
• Knowledge of antibody engineering and therapeutic protein development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities for hybrid work environments.
