Childcare Activity Leader / Playworker – Breakfast & Casual After School Club

Location: Shipton Bellinger Primary School, Tidworth, SP9 7TW
Pay: up to £12.71 per hour (depending on age & experience)
Contract: 5hrs & 50 mins - Term Time only, plus Casual hours available in After School Club if desired
Hours: Term Time Only

Typical shifts

• Breakfast Club: 7:30am – 8:40am - guaranteed working hours
• After School Club: 3:00pm – 6:00pm - to cover for staff sickness, staff holidays & busier sessions

Additional hours may be available during school holidays through our Holiday Clubs.

We're looking for enthusiastic, reliable and energetic Childcare Activity Leaders / Playworkers to join our friendly team on a casual, zero-hours basis , supporting our Breakfast & After School Club at Shipton Bellinger Primary School .

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and flexibility, as you'll be covering staff holidays, sickness and busier sessions.

Please note: Although the after school club is a casual position, when permanent contracted hours become available, they will be offered to our casual team members first where possible.

About the Role

Every day is different! You'll help create a fun, safe and welcoming environment where children aged 4–11 can play, relax and enjoy a wide range of exciting activities before and after school.

Our school has a high number of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), so experience supporting children with additional needs would be an advantage. However, a caring attitude, patience and willingness to learn are just as important.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver fun and engaging activities including sports, arts & crafts, games and creative play.
• Create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where every child feels valued.
• Support children throughout club sessions, encouraging confidence, friendships and independence.
• Prepare healthy snacks and refreshments.
• Complete registers and ensure children are signed in and out safely.
• Set up and tidy away equipment each session.
• Work closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality childcare.
• Follow safeguarding, health & safety and company policies at all times.

What We’re Looking For

• A positive, enthusiastic and caring approach.
• A genuine passion for working with children.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliability and flexibility to work casual shifts when required.
• Experience in childcare, education, coaching, youth work or playwork is desirable but not essential.
• Experience supporting children with SEN is welcomed but not essential, as training and support will be provided.
