Broadcast Engineer - Live Events

About the Role

Our client, a prominent organization within the Arts & Entertainment industry, is seeking a skilled Broadcast Engineer to manage technical operations for live events in Edinburgh . This critical role ensures the seamless execution of audio-visual elements for performances, broadcasts, and public events, demanding precision, technical expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot under pressure. You will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of broadcast equipment, working with a dedicated team to deliver high-quality production values for a diverse range of events. Key Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and operate broadcast equipment, including cameras, switchers, audio mixers, and transmission systems for live events.
• Monitor signal paths and audio/video quality throughout broadcasts, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly during live productions to minimize disruption.
• Collaborate with production teams, including directors, producers, and technicians, to achieve desired event outcomes.
• Maintain and perform routine maintenance on broadcast equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Stay updated on the latest broadcast technologies and best practices relevant to live event production.

Requirements

• Proven experience (4+ years) as a Broadcast Engineer or similar technical role in live production or broadcasting.
• Strong understanding of video and audio signal flow, SDI, HDMI, IP-based video, and audio codecs.
• Hands-on experience with vision mixers, audio consoles, and RF systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, effective decisions during live events.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to technical challenges.
• Relevant technical certifications or degrees in broadcast engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field are advantageous.
