Business Analyst - Trade Surveillance | Cross Asset Trading House | Up to £100,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Trade Surveillance Business Analyst is required for a cross-asset trading house, who continue to add new desks, trading products, and different locations to their portfolio of clientele and internal trading offering. Working directly with the Business and reporting to the Head of Trade Surveillance, this role sits at the intersection of trading, compliance, and technology, supporting the design and enhancement of surveillance capabilities across multiple asset classes including equities, fixed income, derivatives, FX, and commodities.

You will play a key role in ensuring effective monitoring of trading activity by gathering, analysing, and translating complex trade and market data from a range of bespoke in-house systems and business platforms into robust surveillance solutions. A strong understanding of cross-asset trade surveillance principles and the nuances between asset classes is essential, particularly how market behaviour, liquidity, and regulatory expectations differ across products.

3 days a week in the office

Trade surveillance, Cross Asset, Sourcing data into trade surveillance systems, Time stamps. As a Trade Surveillance Business Analyst, you will work directly for the Business, working closely with the Global head of Trade Surveillance, bridging compliance, trading desks, operations, and Technology teams. Gathering, mapping, and interpreting trade data and market data from multiple bespoke in-house trading & post-trade systems.

As a Trade Surveillance Business Analyst, you must be comfortable working with different parts of the business & different asset classes, to understand what is needed from different areas of the business. Collaborating with the various Heads of Technology for each of the different Trading divisions to ensure accurate data ingestion and normalisation.

A strong technical understanding of complex, fragmented data environments is essential, particularly where surveillance systems rely on aggregation of data from multiple bespoke in-house trading, risk, and post-trade platforms.

Key Skills & Experience for the Trade Surveillance Business Analyst

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst within trade surveillance, market abuse surveillance, or financial crime surveillanceSignificant experience in trade surveillance, market abuse surveillance, or financial crime surveillance within a regulated financial institution
• Strong understanding of cross-asset trading environments and market structures
• Experience working with multiple in-house or bespoke trading systems and complex data landscapes
• Knowledge of trade lifecycle events and how they vary across asset classes
• Familiarity with surveillance platforms (e.g. SMARTS, Actimize, Scila or equivalent). Strong data analysis skills, including ability to interpret large and complex datasets
• Experience writing detailed functional and technical requirements. Excellent stakeholder management across Front Office, Compliance, and Technology.
