Job Title: Business Development Executive
Location: Home-based in London, with quarterly visits to the Distillery
Employment type: Fixed term contract 9 months, with the possibility of extension
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Salary: £40-£50k dependent on experience
Lochlea is an independent, family-owned Single Estate Single Malt Whisky Distillery based in the heart of South Ayrshire, Scotland. An award-winning Lowland whisky producer, we grow our own barley, distil and mature our whisky on our working farm. Farming is at the core of everything we do, making Lochlea a distillery born from the land rather than simply located on it.
The role
As we continue to grow our brand and expand our presence across key markets, we are seeking an ambitious Business Development Executive to drive sales growth, strengthen customer relationships and increase Lochlea’s footprint throughout London.
Key responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth by expanding the customer base in both the on-trade and off-trade markets
- Deliver agreed volume and revenue targets for London
- Develop, nurture and maintain long-term relationships with new and existing customers
- Identify and develop new business opportunities
- Champion the brand with customers, demonstrating deep product knowledge
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness to ensure all pricing is in line with company pricing parameters and profitability expectations
- Manage the relevant Advertising and Promotion budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and maximising return on investment
- Host tastings and deliver staff training for on-trade customer teams
- Update our CRM system with all customer interactions
- Represent the company at industry events and customer visits, including evenings and weekends where required
About you
- Self-motivated, resilient and results-oriented
- Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident in negotiating and presenting to customers
- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
- A proven track record of selling spirits into the London on-trade and off-trade is essential
- An established network of contacts across the London on-trade
- A genuine passion for and knowledge of whisky and the wider spirits category
- The right to work in the UK
