About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Buyer with a specialization in Capital Equipment to join their procurement department in Belfast . This role is vital for managing the acquisition of significant machinery, technology, and other capital assets required for operational expansion and maintenance. You will be responsible for the full sourcing lifecycle, from defining requirements and identifying potential suppliers to negotiating complex contracts and overseeing delivery and installation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of capital markets, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage high-value transactions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major investment projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the sourcing and procurement of all capital equipment, ensuring best value and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to define capital equipment specifications and budgets.
- Conduct thorough market research to identify suitable suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
- Develop and manage contracts for capital equipment purchases, including warranties, service agreements, and payment schedules.
- Oversee the logistics of delivery, installation, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of all capital expenditure and supplier interactions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Buyer , specifically with capital equipment or large asset procurement.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing high-value contracts.
- Understanding of technical specifications and engineering requirements for machinery and equipment.
- Excellent financial acumen and experience in managing procurement budgets.
- Proficiency in relevant procurement software and ERP systems.
- Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
