Buyer - Indirect Spend

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Buyer specializing in indirect spend to join their procurement team in Southampton . This role is crucial for managing the acquisition of non-operational goods and services, such as IT equipment, professional services, and facilities management. You will be responsible for ensuring value for money, timely procurement, and compliance with company policies. The successful candidate will work closely with department heads to understand their needs and source appropriate solutions, contributing to the smooth operation of the business from their base in Hampshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the sourcing and purchasing of indirect goods and services, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for indirect categories, negotiating pricing and terms.
• Process purchase requisitions and create purchase orders using the company's procurement system.
• Monitor supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure service level agreements are met.
• Resolve any issues related to orders, deliveries, or invoicing for indirect spend.
• Support the implementation of procurement best practices and process improvements within the indirect spend category.

Requirements

• Experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, with specific experience in indirect procurement.
• Good understanding of procurement processes, from requisition to payment.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with procurement software.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
• A relevant qualification or demonstrable experience in purchasing is preferred.
