About the Role
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Buyer to join their manufacturing procurement team in Sheffield . This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of high-quality components essential for their manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for identifying suitable suppliers, negotiating prices, managing purchase orders, and maintaining strong relationships to ensure a smooth supply chain. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of manufacturing needs and procurement best practices, contributing to operational efficiency and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure manufacturing components and raw materials according to specified quality and delivery requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and reliability standards.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable contract conditions.
- Manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand component specifications and future needs.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability in negotiating with suppliers and securing competitive pricing for components.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and component sourcing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
