Buyer - Manufacturing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive Buyer with experience in manufacturing environments to join their team in Sunderland . This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, components, and services necessary for production. You will work closely with the operations and engineering departments to manage inventory levels and supplier performance. This position operates on a hybrid model , allowing for flexibility while maintaining essential team collaboration and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute purchase orders for raw materials, components, and indirect goods and services.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and reliable supply.
• Monitor supplier performance, address quality issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and work with planning to forecast material needs.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities align with production schedules and business objectives.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and maintain quality standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer , preferably within a manufacturing or industrial sector.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid capacity, balancing remote work with office-based responsibilities in Sunderland .
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
