About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive Buyer to join their manufacturing operations based in Sunderland . This role is integral to ensuring the smooth flow of materials and components essential for production. You will manage day-to-day purchasing activities, focusing on timely delivery, cost efficiency, and quality assurance. Working closely with production, planning, and quality control departments, you will ensure that all procurement needs are met without compromising operational efficiency. This position offers a blend of on-site responsibilities and the flexibility of hybrid working, making it suitable for an organised and communicative individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute purchase orders for raw materials, components, and indirect goods as per production schedules and company requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively address any issues related to delivery times, quality, or cost.
- Source new suppliers and maintain strong relationships with existing ones to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply.
- Collaborate with internal teams to forecast material needs and manage inventory levels effectively.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
Requirements
- Experience as a Buyer or in a similar purchasing role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with purchasing principles, inventory management, and supply chain logistics.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems for purchase order processing and data management.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to achieving cost savings and improving procurement efficiency.
