About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to manage the procurement of raw materials for their manufacturing operations in Portsmouth . This role is integral to ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of essential supplies, directly impacting production schedules and product quality. You will be responsible for supplier sourcing, negotiation, order placement, and inventory management. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a good understanding of supply chain dynamics within a manufacturing context, contributing to the operational efficiency and success of the business by securing a reliable supply of high-quality raw materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials and components according to production schedules and quality specifications.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost efficiencies and ensure supply continuity.
- Place and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any quality or delivery issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and collaborate with planning and production teams to forecast material needs.
- Stay informed about market trends and pricing for key raw materials.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar purchasing role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of raw material sourcing and supply chain principles.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and purchasing software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
