Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and commercially focused Buyer with expertise in raw materials procurement to join their manufacturing operations in Sheffield . This role is vital for ensuring the consistent and cost-effective supply of essential raw materials, contributing directly to production schedules and product quality. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and implementing sourcing strategies that optimise the supply chain. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of commodity markets and a proven ability to drive value within a manufacturing environment, working predominantly from their dedicated office location.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure a wide range of raw materials, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery to production.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers of raw materials, negotiating favourable contracts and terms.
• Monitor commodity markets and global supply trends to identify potential risks and opportunities.
• Implement strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and enhance supply chain resilience.
• Collaborate closely with production, quality control, and logistics teams to align purchasing activities with operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, ethical sourcing policies, and company standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist, with specific experience in raw materials or manufacturing procurement.
• Strong knowledge of commodity markets, supplier negotiation, and contract management.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and forecast demand.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in using procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is advantageous.
