Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Buyer specializing in Raw Materials to join their procurement team in Reading . This role is critical for ensuring the consistent and cost-effective supply of essential raw materials needed for manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating prices and delivery terms, and ensuring the quality and availability of materials. The successful candidate will possess strong market knowledge and exceptional negotiation skills, contributing to the efficiency and profitability of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and procure a wide range of raw materials according to production schedules and quality specifications.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring reliability and competitive pricing.
• Monitor global commodity markets and industry trends to anticipate price fluctuations and supply disruptions.
• Manage inventory levels in collaboration with the production and logistics teams.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies regarding raw material sourcing.
• Resolve any issues related to supplier performance, quality, or delivery.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Buyer, with a focus on raw materials or commodities.
• Strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of procurement best practices.
• Excellent knowledge of relevant markets and supplier networks.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Based in or able to commute to Reading for this role.
