Buyer (Temporary Contract)
Location: Nottingham
Length of Contract: 3 to 6 months - Possibly extendable or perm role avail
Salary: £30,000 per annum (£15.39 per hour) Hours: 37.5 hours per week Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break) Start Date: ASAP
We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment on a temporary basis. This role will support the Supply Chain function by ensuring materials, components and services are purchased efficiently, cost-effectively and delivered on time to meet business demands.
Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Projects, Quality and Finance teams, you will play a key role in supplier management, purchasing administration, stock control and material availability.
Key Responsibilities of this Buyer role:
Create, manage and expedite purchase orders through the ERP/MRP system. Negotiate pricing, lead times and delivery schedules with suppliers. Monitor stock levels and ensure continuity of supply. Analyse purchasing data, supplier performance and spending trends. Work with Operations and Project teams to source materials and estimate project costs. Manage supplier relationships and conduct supplier performance reviews. Resolve supplier quality issues, returns and non-conformance matters. Investigate and resolve invoice and purchasing queries. Monitor overdue purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers. Maintain accurate ERP/MRP system data and purchasing records. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain function. Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and quality standards. About You:
Previous purchasing or buying experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience using ERP and MRP systems. Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills. Good understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering drawings. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Strong numerical and analytical abilities. Knowledge of supply chain processes and best practices. Understanding of Lean principles would be advantageous. CIPS qualification desirable but not essential. Full UK Driving Licence.Skills Required of this Buyer role:

Stage 1: 15-20 minute Teams screening interview focused on experience and CV review.
Stage 2: Site-based interview including competency questions and site tour.
