Job Description
An exciting position has been created for a Buyer to join a global manufacturing business with multiple business sites throughout the UK.
The Buyer will report directly to the Group Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager and be responsible for delivering an efficient, resilient and commercially effective purchasing function across the Group. The role combines operational purchasing, supplier management, inventory control and ERP/MRP development.
Key Responsibilities of the Buyer:
Lead day-to-day purchasing activities
Manage purchase requisitions, purchase orders, acknowledgements and supplier expediting
Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply issues
Maintain inventory availability whilst reducing excess and obsolete stock
Support ERP/MRP maintenance including supplier data, lead times, MOQ and planning parameters
Support sourcing exercises, cost reduction and supplier negotiations
Work closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Finance and Warehouse teams
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within purchasing processes
Skills & Experience required of the Buyer:
Manufacturing and/or engineering environment purchasing experience
ERP/MRP systems knowledge
Supplier negotiation and relationship management
Strong analytical and Excel skills
Excellent communication and organisational skills

This position would suit someone who has worked in a manufacturing environment in a role such as Buyer, Senior Buyer, purchasing specialist or procurement specialist
