Buyer – Civil Engineering / Groundworks
Location: Folkestone, Kent
The Opportunity
CPXR is recruiting for a Buyer to join an established civil engineering and groundworks subcontractor based in Folkestone.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer looking to take on greater responsibility within a busy procurement environment. You’ll be responsible for sourcing materials, managing suppliers and supporting the commercial and operational teams across a range of civil engineering projects.

The Role
- Source and procure materials, plant and subcontract services
- Obtain and negotiate competitive quotations from suppliers
- Manage supplier relationships and maintain an effective supply chain
- Place and manage purchase orders in line with project requirements
- Monitor costs, lead times and material availability
- Work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Estimators and Site Teams
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience as a Buyer, Assistant Buyer or Procurement Buyer
- Background within civil engineering, groundworks or construction
- Experience procuring construction materials and subcontract services
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Commercially aware with excellent organisational skills
- Confident communicating with suppliers and internal teams
- Knowledge of construction procurement processes
Candidates from groundworks, infrastructure, utilities or general construction backgrounds will also be considered.
