About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Buyer to join their procurement team located in Southampton . This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required for daily operations. You will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating prices, and managing purchase orders to meet the company's diverse needs. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to building robust supplier relationships. This position involves regular collaboration with various departments to understand their requirements and contribute to overall supply chain excellence, operating within a traditional office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure a wide range of goods and services in accordance with company policies and budget constraints.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and favorable payment terms.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with relevant teams to manage stock effectively.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
- Evaluate supplier performance and recommend improvements or alternative sourcing options.
Requirements
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
