Role details: Our client, a leading developer of mission-critical and safety-critical systems for the defence and aerospace sectors, is seeking a C/C++ Software Engineer for a contract opportunity. The role will involve developing robust embedded software for applications used across military aircraft, vehicles, civil aerospace and unmanned systems.
Key Responsibilities
Defining requirements, designing, developing and verifying software across a range of integrity levels Producing high-quality C and C++ code in line with internal software standards Developing and testing bare-metal embedded software Creating accurate software design documentation and supporting requirements development Carrying out software testing, debugging and verification within embedded environments Participating in design and code reviews to maintain robust engineering standards Working collaboratively with wider engineering teams and technical stakeholders
Job Requirements:
High proficiency in C and C++ software development Experience writing bare-metal embedded software Understanding of software development lifecycles, requirements and verification processes Experience with Git, containerised development environments and CI/CD workflows Familiarity with debugging tools, hardware interfaces and safety analysis techniques Strong organisational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a wider team Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Skills:
Understanding of hardware and software integration Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing Experience developing software in accordance with DO-178C Knowledge of safety-critical or mission-critical software development
