CAD Technician – Mineral Processing

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £37500 - £45000 dependant on experience

Are you an experienced CAD Technician with a background in mechanical, process, or heavy engineering? We are recruiting for a CAD Technician to join a specialist engineering business designing and supplying mineral processing equipment and plants.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on varied, technically interesting projects involving equipment such as thickeners, clarifiers, hydrosizers, hydrocyclones and associated process plant. The business has operated in mineral process engineering since 1984 and supports customers with specialist equipment, sales and service solutions.

The Role

Working closely with Design Engineers, Project Managers and the wider technical team, you will produce accurate engineering drawings and documentation to support the design, manufacture and installation of mineral processing equipment and plant.

Key responsibilities will include:

Producing high-quality 2D general arrangement, fabrication and installation drawings

*

Creating and updating 3D models of process equipment, structures, pipework and plant layouts

*

Interpreting engineering calculations, specifications, sketches and marked-up drawings

*

Preparing detailed drawings, bills of materials and supporting manufacturing documentation

*

Maintaining drawing registers, revision control and technical files

*

Checking drawings for accuracy, practicality, compliance and consistency with internal standards

*

Working with engineers and project teams to resolve design issues and incorporate changes

*

Supporting projects from initial concept through to manufacture, installation and as-built documentation

CAD Technicians are typically responsible for producing accurate 2D/3D technical drawings, checking them against quality standards and collaborating with engineering and project teams.

About You

We are looking for a practical and detail-focused CAD professional who is comfortable working in an engineering-led environment.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience as a CAD Technician, Design Technician, Draughtsperson or similar

*

Previous experience using AutoCAD 3D and Inventor is desirable

*

Experience within mechanical engineering, process plant, manufacturing, fabrication, bulk materials handling, mining, quarrying, aggregates, water treatment or a related industry

*

The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information

*

An understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, materials and engineering design principles

*

Excellent attention to detail, organisation and document-control skills

*

The ability to manage priorities and work to project deadlines

*

Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

Relevant engineering qualifications, such as an HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent practical CAD experience, would be advantageous. CAD roles commonly require strong technical drawing, CAD software, mathematical and spatial-awareness skills.
