Job Description
School Caretaker – Tamworth
Location: Tamworth
Start Date: September 2026 (or as soon as possible)
Contract: Temporary with the potential to become permanent
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of one of our partner schools in Tamworth for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming school environment and enjoys working as part of a dedicated school team.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and securing the school site each day.
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks.
- Ensuring the school premises and grounds are clean, safe and well maintained.
- Undertaking health and safety checks and reporting any issues.
- Assisting with deliveries, room setups and school events.
- Liaising with contractors and supporting site compliance where required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous caretaking, site management, facilities or maintenance experience is desirable.
- Practical DIY and maintenance skills.
- Good understanding of health and safety.
- Reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently.
- A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
Essential Compliance Requirements
- Provide a full employment history covering the last 24 months.
- Provide a minimum of two employment references (three if you have not previously worked with children).
- Complete an employment history form covering every month from leaving full-time education.
- Obtain character references where required to cover any gaps in employment.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
- Provide proof of right to work in the UK.
- Provide two proofs of address, proof of National Insurance and any relevant name change documentation.
- Complete our free mandatory safeguarding and compliance training.
