About the Role

Our client is seeking a commercially astute and detail-oriented Category Buyer to join their procurement team in Sheffield , specializing in the FMCG sector . This role is essential for sourcing high-quality products, negotiating favorable terms with suppliers, and managing product assortments to drive category profitability and meet consumer demand. You will collaborate closely with brand management, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure strategic sourcing and optimal category performance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned FMCG categories, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and optimal value.
• Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and cost drivers to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Manage supplier relationships, ensuring performance standards and collaborative partnerships are maintained.
• Collaborate with category management and marketing teams to align purchasing with product strategy and consumer needs.
• Monitor inventory levels and work with supply chain to ensure timely delivery and product availability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement or buying, with a strong focus on the FMCG industry .
• Proven negotiation skills and experience in managing supplier contracts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
