Category Buyer - Indirect Spend

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic Category Buyer with expertise in managing indirect spend to join their progressive team in Cardiff . This role focuses on developing and executing category strategies for non-production goods and services, such as IT, marketing, and facilities. You will be responsible for supplier selection, contract negotiation, and driving value through strategic sourcing initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of indirect procurement markets to support the company's growth and operational excellence in Cardiff, Wales .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for indirect spend areas, aligning with business objectives.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on capability, cost, quality, and service.
• Lead negotiation processes for contracts, terms, and pricing with a focus on delivering best value.
• Monitor category performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure satisfaction with procured services.
• Manage supplier relationships to foster collaboration and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Significant experience in category management or strategic sourcing, specifically within indirect spend.
• Proven track record of successful negotiation and contract management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial information.
• Excellent understanding of procurement best practices and principles.
• Experience with e-sourcing tools and P2P systems is advantageous.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
