About the Role

Our client is seeking a commercially astute and experienced Category Buyer to manage key procurement activities for their diverse FMCG portfolio in Liverpool . This role is critical for sourcing high-quality products and raw materials, negotiating favourable terms, and ensuring the cost-effective supply of goods that meet stringent quality standards. You will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing our client's competitive edge within the fast-moving consumer goods sector by building strong supplier relationships and optimizing the supply chain. This is a hands-on role for a procurement professional passionate about driving value.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category sourcing strategies to ensure the supply of high-quality FMCG raw materials and finished goods.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve cost savings and optimal value.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and conduct regular reviews to ensure service level agreements are met.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including product development and operations, to understand requirements and ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Conduct market analysis to identify emerging trends, potential risks, and new sourcing opportunities within the FMCG market .
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies in procurement activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Buyer or Buyer, ideally within the FMCG or retail sector.
• Strong negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable contract terms.
• Excellent understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and supplier relationship management.
• Analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial information.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
