About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Category Buyer to manage specific procurement categories from their base in Milton Keynes . You will be responsible for developing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and working collaboratively with internal teams to meet their purchasing needs. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives for assigned product or service groups.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and emerging trends within your categories.
- Manage the full procurement cycle, including tendering, negotiation, and contract award for specific categories.
- Foster strong relationships with key suppliers, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their needs and provide expert purchasing advice.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and ethical standards throughout all sourcing activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Category Manager, with a focus on specific spend areas.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical abilities, with experience in market analysis and spend management.
- Good understanding of procurement best practices and supply chain principles.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
