About the Role

Our client is seeking a commercially sharp and negotiation-savvy Category Buyer to manage key sourcing and procurement activities within their expansive FMCG portfolio. This role, based in our Cambridge office, is crucial for ensuring the cost-effective and reliable supply of raw materials, packaging, and services essential to our operations. You will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, negotiating favourable terms with suppliers, and managing supplier relationships to support business objectives. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective category sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings, improve quality, and ensure supply chain reliability.
• Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify potential suppliers and opportunities for competitive tendering.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure the best possible terms, pricing, and service agreements for the business.
• Manage supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and foster strong, collaborative relationships.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product development and operations, to ensure sourcing decisions align with business needs and timelines in Cambridge .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement or buying, with a strong focus on the FMCG industry.
• Proven experience in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial information.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
