Our client is actively searching for a strategic and analytically minded Category Development Manager to join their thriving team in Manchester . This role is essential in driving growth and optimizing performance across specific product categories within the FMCG sector . You will be responsible for understanding market trends, consumer behaviour, and retailer dynamics to develop compelling category strategies that maximize sales and profitability. This is an on-site position, fostering close collaboration with commercial teams and providing hands-on engagement with the business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned with overall business objectives and market insights.
- Analyse sales data, market trends, and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
- Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to create compelling category plans and promotional activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners, presenting category insights and recommendations.
- Manage product assortments, pricing, and promotional plans to optimize category performance and drive sales volume.
- Monitor category performance against targets and provide regular reports with actionable recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in category management, brand management, or a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry .
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent understanding of retail dynamics, shopper behaviour, and the principles of category growth.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at various levels.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
