Category Development Manager

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector , is seeking an experienced Category Development Manager to join their team in Reading . This pivotal role is responsible for driving category growth by developing insightful strategies based on consumer, shopper, and market data. You will work closely with sales, marketing, and retailer teams to ensure optimal product placement, promotional effectiveness, and overall category health. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data-driven category strategies to drive sales and market share growth.
• Conduct thorough analysis of sales data, market trends, and shopper insights to identify opportunities and challenges.
• Collaborate with the sales team to develop effective JBP (Joint Business Plans) with key retailers.
• Work with marketing teams to align promotional plans and ensure optimal product visibility and assortment.
• Present category insights and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders and external retail partners.
• Monitor competitor strategies and market dynamics to maintain a competitive edge.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in category management, brand management, or trade marketing, preferably within the FMCG industry .
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management and retailers.
• Proficiency in category management software and tools.
