Category Development Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Category Development Manager to join their vibrant team in Cardiff . This role is pivotal in driving category growth and optimizing product assortments for key retail partners within the FMCG sector. You will use data-driven insights to understand consumer behaviour, market dynamics, and competitor activities to develop compelling category strategies. Working closely with sales and marketing departments, you will ensure that our client's products are positioned for maximum success on retail shelves, contributing significantly to the company's overall performance and market leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse category performance, identifying key trends, opportunities, and threats.
• Develop category strategies and plans in collaboration with sales and marketing teams.
• Recommend product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies to retailers.
• Conduct shopper insights research to understand consumer purchasing behaviour.
• Present category insights and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders and external retail partners.
• Monitor competitor activities and market share within assigned categories.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in category management or a similar analytical role within the FMCG industry.
• Strong understanding of retail landscape and consumer purchasing dynamics.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, advanced Excel).
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
