About the Role
Our client is looking for an analytical and commercially astute Category Development Manager to join their thriving FMCG team. This role is key to driving category growth and optimizing the product offering for key retail partners. You will leverage data and consumer insights to develop compelling category strategies, influence ranging decisions, and identify new product opportunities. This position offers a hybrid working model, allowing for a balance between remote work and in-person collaboration with the team and clients in Milton Keynes . Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the future of our client's product categories within the competitive retail landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies that align with company objectives and retailer needs in the FMCG market.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and consumer behavior to identify growth opportunities and potential risks within assigned categories.
- Collaborate with account management teams to influence ranging, merchandising, and promotional plans at key retail accounts.
- Identify and champion new product development opportunities based on category insights and market gaps.
- Work closely with marketing and R&D teams to ensure product innovation meets category demands.
- Present category insights and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders and external retail partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in category management, brand management, or a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent understanding of retail dynamics and category management principles.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, comfortable presenting to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote work with office-based collaboration.
