About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic Category Manager to lead the sourcing and procurement of direct materials from a remote-based position, supporting operations near Oxford . Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute robust category strategies for direct materials, aligning with business and manufacturing needs.

• Manage end-to-end supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, risk assessment, and collaborative improvement programs.
• Conduct thorough market analysis and identify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and engineering teams to understand material requirements and future needs.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical standards, and industry regulations.

Requirements

• Significant experience in category management or strategic sourcing, specifically within direct materials procurement.
• Proven track record in negotiating high-volume supply agreements and managing complex supplier portfolios.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the dynamics of raw material markets.
• Excellent analytical skills, financial acumen, and strategic planning capabilities.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, e-sourcing tools, and data analytics platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
