Category Manager - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Category Manager to lead and develop a key category within their fast-paced FMCG division based in London . This pivotal role involves driving category growth, understanding consumer insights, and managing supplier relationships to ensure market-leading product offerings. You will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of your category, working closely with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to achieve ambitious commercial objectives and enhance brand presence in a highly competitive market landscape, fostering innovation and commercial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
• Conduct in-depth market, competitor, and consumer analysis to identify growth opportunities and threats.
• Manage product portfolios, including ranging, pricing, and promotional activities to maximize sales and profitability.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Present category performance reviews and strategic plans to senior management.
• Monitor category performance against KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience (5+ years) in Category Management or a similar commercial role within the FMCG sector.
• Strong understanding of retail dynamics, consumer behaviour, and market trends in the UK.
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing category growth strategies.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and financial acumen.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills with experience managing supplier relationships.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and MS Office Suite.
