Our client, a leading force in the FMCG industry, is looking for a strategic and analytical Category Manager to join their dynamic team in Southampton . This role is essential for driving the commercial success and strategic direction of specific product categories within the retail environment. You will be responsible for optimising the product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional activities to maximise sales and profitability. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute individual to take ownership of key categories and influence business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned with overall business objectives and market opportunities.
- Analyse sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify category growth drivers and potential threats.
- Manage the product lifecycle, including assortment optimisation, ranging, and new product introductions.
- Develop and execute effective pricing and promotional plans to achieve category sales and profit targets.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team, marketing, and supply chain functions to ensure seamless execution.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive category performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Category Management or similar commercial role, ideally within the FMCG sector .
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in analysing sales data, market share, and shopper behaviour.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing category strategies.
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and understanding of P&L management.
- Proficiency in using retail data systems (e.g., Nielsen/IRI) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
