About the Role
Our client, a leader in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) space, is looking for a highly analytical and commercially astute Category Manager to join their team based in Cardiff . In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic development and management of specific product categories, driving profitable growth and market share within the competitive retail landscape. You will work closely with retail partners and internal teams to optimize the category's performance through strategic ranging, pricing, and promotional planning. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned with company objectives and market trends.
- Analyze category performance, sales data, shopper insights, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate terms for optimal product assortment, pricing, and promotions.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure effective execution of category plans in-store and online.
- Optimize product ranging, shelf space allocation, and merchandising to maximize category sales and profitability.
- Present category reviews and strategic recommendations to senior management and retail partners.
Requirements
- University degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in category management or a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry .
- Strong understanding of retail dynamics, shopper behaviour, and category management principles.
- Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills, with proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external retail partners.
