About the Role

Our client is searching for a strategic and insightful Category Manager to oversee key categories within the grocery FMCG market in Portsmouth . This critical role involves developing and implementing category strategies that drive profitable growth, enhance brand positioning, and meet evolving consumer needs. You will work closely with retail partners and internal teams to optimize product assortments, promotional planning, and pricing strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute compelling category strategies that align with overall business objectives and market trends in the grocery sector .
• Analyze category performance, sales data, and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities and optimize product assortment and shelving.
• Collaborate with retail buyers to negotiate listings, promotional plans, pricing, and shelf space.
• Manage the P&L for assigned categories, ensuring targets for revenue, profit, and market share are met.
• Work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure cohesive execution of category plans.
• Stay informed about competitor activities, industry trends, and innovations within the FMCG grocery market .

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Manager or Senior Buyer within the FMCG grocery sector .
• Strong understanding of retail dynamics, category management principles, and consumer behaviour.
• Excellent analytical, financial, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis and insight generation using relevant market data tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
