Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding retail group, is looking for an experienced Category Manager to lead their Indirect Procurement efforts, based remotely with occasional travel to their Milton Keynes hub. This role will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies for non-operational spend, including IT, marketing, facilities, and professional services. You will drive significant cost savings and value creation through effective sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management, working autonomously within a supportive remote team structure. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend areas to achieve cost savings and value enhancement goals.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing projects, including market analysis, RFx processes, and supplier selection.
• Negotiate complex contracts and framework agreements with key suppliers, ensuring optimal terms and conditions.
• Manage supplier performance and relationships, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand business requirements and align procurement activities.
• Monitor category spend, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in category management or strategic sourcing, with a focus on indirect procurement.
• Proven ability to develop and implement successful category strategies.
• Strong negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working in a remote or hybrid environment, demonstrating strong self-management and communication skills.
• A degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is preferred.
