Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Category Manager to oversee indirect procurement categories, including IT, professional services, and facilities management. This senior role, based remotely, is crucial for driving significant cost savings and value across non-operational spend. You will be responsible for developing category strategies, leading complex sourcing initiatives, and managing key supplier relationships to align with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of indirect spend dynamics, and the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization. You will play a key part in shaping procurement best practices and ensuring efficient, ethical sourcing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend areas, including market analysis and supplier landscape assessment.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing processes, including RFx development, negotiation, and contract award for high-value indirect services.
• Manage and develop relationships with key strategic suppliers, ensuring performance against contractual obligations and driving continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify opportunities for consolidation and cost reduction, and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
• Monitor category spend, identify trends, and implement cost-saving initiatives through effective sourcing and demand management.
• Ensure compliance with all procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards across all sourcing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline; MBA or CIPS certification is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing and category management, with a focus on indirect procurement.
• Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings and value through effective negotiation and supplier management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable strategies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
• Experience with e-procurement tools and advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
