Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Category Manager to lead indirect procurement efforts for their operations based in Manchester . You will be responsible for managing key supplier relationships, leading complex sourcing initiatives, and ensuring alignment with business objectives across various departments. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for indirect spend areas, including IT, marketing, facilities, and professional services.
• Lead complex sourcing events, including RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations, to secure best-in-class terms and pricing.
• Manage and develop relationships with key strategic suppliers, ensuring performance meets contractual obligations and business needs.
• Conduct market analysis and supplier assessments to identify risks and opportunities within assigned categories.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective procurement solutions.
• Monitor market trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and deliver enhanced value.

Requirements

• Significant experience in strategic sourcing and category management , particularly within indirect procurement.
• Proven track record of delivering substantial cost savings and value through effective negotiation and supplier management.
• Strong understanding of contract law and risk management principles.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with e-procurement tools and ERP systems is essential.
